Falconry is extremely popular in the UAE, that’s why this country has the largest stock of these birds. Only in Abu Dhabi, more than three thousands of falcons are officially registered. There are regular different falcon competitions, festivals and even beauty contest.
By the way, why is falconry? The fact is, people who are keen on this rare, but fashionable passion, each bird trained for hunting, except eagles, called a falcon.
Falconry is old as hunting itself. Despite the fact that people always used different animals for hunting, only birds of prey went all the way along with the hunter to the end and continue to hunt and to please the souls of the hunters in different parts of the world.
One day the young sultan Temujin and his brother traveled through the desert. Their route was long, food stocks were depleted, and brothers began to starve. And when they have already lost hope to see their home, Temujin saw a wild falcon. “God sent us food!” – said happy brother. “No, we’ll catch him and we’ll learn him to hunt, and we’ll divide the prey for three,” – stopped him sultan.
Almost two years later, the brothers returned to their homeland. And if then Temujin didn’t catch a falcon, not learned it, he and his brother would be died of hunger … History would never know about a young Temujin, who later became Genghis Khan – the great founder of the Mongol Empire.
Thanks to their vigilance, speed, intelligence and ease of taming, falcons since ancient times used by people for foraging. In former times it was necessary for survival. Today falconry is a spectacular and expensive entertainment.
In the Dubai will be based Falconcity of Wonders – tourism, entertainment and residential district, which will represents the form of a falcon.

There is a new falcon center, including a bazaar, museum and a special platform to sale hunting birds located near Dubai in the Al-Mercado area. A new museum tells the history of falconry in the Arabian Peninsula and for all visitors professionals demonstrate skills of trained falcons. Thus tourists can learn a lot about habits and lifestyles of falcons, and feel themselves like a real hunter. Falcon center is located near the camel market and the racecourse for camel races in the Nad Al Sheba.
