The highest building in the world Burj Khalifa Tower resembles the shape of a stalagmite. Its shining mirror surface contrast with the traditional architecture of Dubai around. Author of the project — the American architect Adrian Smith, who has already designing such structures (in particular, he participated in the design of a skyscraper Jin Mao Tower in China, 420 meters). The tower is designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.



The Burj Khalifa tower includes three elements located around a central core. Rising up from level to level the tower decreasing the cross section. There are 27 terraces in Burj Khalifa. The top of the tower is crowned by a 180 meters spire. The spire that houses communications equipment is made of more than 4,000 tonnes of high quality steel. At the top, the tower sways around a total of 1,5 meters. Architects rotated the tower 120 degrees from its original position to reduce winds stress. The exterior cladding includes about 142,000 square meters of reflective glazing, aluminium and stainless steel panels. The cladding is designed to resist Dubai’s extreme weather conditions.

Unique design of Burj Khalifa sets it apart from other worlds highest buildings. It was built using the most advanced construction technologies of present time. Burj Khalifa has really incredible view when its mirror body shines in the rays of the rising east sun. Without any doubts the tower can be recognized as an architectural pearl of the Middle East.
