Burj Khalifa Tower is a building built under the modern standards using the latest building technologies. The building stands on the 50 m. thick reinforced concrete base, which is supported by 43 meter long reinforced concrete piles 1.5 meter in diameter. Base poured with 12,500 cubic meters of reinforced concrete. In terms of seismic and geotechnical analysis was made an unique work. The foundation was poured with high density and low permeability concrete. To minimize effect of corrosive, the cathodic protection system was constructed under the foundation.

Building has 3 glazed entries leading to the Corporate Suites, Concourse Levels, Burj Khalifa residences and Armani Hotel.

About 26,000 of individually hand-cut glass panels cladding the exterior of the Burj Khalifa Tower. It was made by 300 China cladding specialists. The cladding withstands Dubai’s extreme weather conditions. The cladding area equals 17 soccer fields area and shines in the sun. Covering the entire building took a total of 122 000 kilograms of powder coatings and 487,000 liters of paint.

The “Y” shape of the Burj Khalifa Tower is a unique wind problem solution that reduces the winds force action on itself. Described as a “buttressed core”, structural system consists of concrete wall construction. Central core have hexagonal hub form and provides the torsional resistance of the Tower.

Architecture of Burj Khalifa

4,000 tons and 200 meters structural steel spire crowns the Tower, was jacked with a hydraulic pump. The spire equipped with communications equipment. Also four floors below the spire houses communications and broadcasting equipment. The spire coated with metal matte powder brings the spire in harmony with panels that are decorate facades of the tower. This innovative powder coating was specially developed for Burj Khalifa Tower by the Norwegian Jotun company. It is believed that this coating will serve 20 years with a minimum need of repair.

Also, 26 color shades of paints and enamels used in all interiors of a skyscraper, they have covered about 700,000 square meters. These paints and enamels do not contain lead, provide gloss and are easy to clean.

Innovations have touched both external and internal parts of the tower. With the help of the wind turbine and solar panels, the tower is energy self-sufficient. It is combined with economical use of energy: for example, the need for air conditioners is reduced due to special protection from the sun, covering the building.

On seven technical floors located sub-stations, water tanks and pumps, air-handling units and other “life” equipment of the Tower. Also The Tower equipped with 57 elevators and 8 escalators. Individual attention should be paid to skyscraper elevators. They are double-decked, and the fastest in the world – 18 m / sec.
