The Dubai Metro, like everything else in Dubai, is full of the latest technologies. It was designed as a fully automated (driverless) network and was opened 9 September 2009. The air inside the stations, crossings and trains, will be air-conditioned and maintained at 20 ° C. Stations and crossings are equipped with escalators and a treadmills. The railways are held mainly on viaducts, and in the center of the city – under the ground. This system is based on the technology of contact rail.
The first stage of the project is built by a consortium of Dubai Rapid Link (DURL), consisting of such Japanese companies as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, Obayashi Corporation, Kajima Corporation and the Turkish company Yapi Merkezi. Dubai Metro is operated by Dubai Road Company and UAE travel agencies. Dubai metro is the longest, fully automated rail system in the world. Trains
Passengers will be transported by 99 fully automated trains. These trains are designed with 400 seats and have a 75-meter length. They are very comfortable.
The designed capacity of the train of 5 wagons – 643 people. Top speed – 110 km/h, average speed from 32 km/h up to 42 km/h. Stations are announced via voice in Arabic and English languages, as well as via scrolling LED string. Interactive map of Dubai Metro
Stations
Each station will offer taxi depots and park-and-ride facilities.
Rules In the Dubai Metro it is forbidden to eat, drink, smoking and carrying alcohol.
Fare In the Dubai metro as tickets are used smart cards. The fare depends on distance. Regular class price varies from 1,80 AED (≈ 0,5 USD) up to 5,80 AED (≈ 1,6 USD).

- “Gold class” section, for passengers who have bought a golden ticket that is 2 times more expensive than usual.
- Section is exclusively for women and children. Passage of children under 5 years and shorter than 90 cm is not charged.
